Another Look at "The Big Ten" Exodus 20:3-17  Thousands of authors have written about this portion of scripture but a dream about the relevance of the fifth commandment to this writer's own family has sparked the desire for to revisit the meanings of these very first, basic societal rules for the people of God. As is often the case in Scripture, we see the pattern of topics of greater impact receiving first mention. This appears to be the case with this basic set of rules given by God to Moses for His people. 1.  Do not commit which could be referred to as "spiritual idolatry". It has to do the with a person's choice of what his/her places the greatest value on. That is, what is a person's first and greatest love. Our Lord Jesus even referred to this rule stating that it is the greatest of all the commandments. Matthew 22:37 "...Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your min...
Another Freditorial - Sept 20, 2025 Predawn dreams, thoughts & impressions regarding current family issues: The word salvation comes from the Greek term "soedzo" (sp?) meaning to be saved. The meaning includes the idea of being healed and made whole in body, mind & spirit. Salvation comes from repenting (literally changing one's mind in such a profound way as to cause behavioral changes) through believing in the Truth (Jesus) and demonstrating that faith by confessing that Jesus is Lord.  John 14:6 and Romans 10:9. Conversely, believing in things which are false (which is the essence of deception) does the very opposite to mind, body and spirit.  It actually causes damage to both entities. Clarification of term definitions is needed here.  We are created in God's image.  Just as He is a triune God, we are a trinity of sorts.  "...We are a spirit, we have a soul and we dwell in a body..." Our soul itself is a triune creation consisting of the intell...
A Theological Dilemma? - April 04/2026 The Scripture never contradicts itself. However, there are what this author refers to as "Parallel Contrasting Truths". Consider two examples - The concept of Predestination and Free Will or even the two ideas of "OSAS" (Once Saved Always Saved) and "Eternal Reprobation". These are concepts that appear to be mutually exclusive but in actuality they are not. Our natural reasoning says: "They both can't be right!". The truth is that our inability to reconcile these apparently opposing ideas in our minds merely reflects the limitations of our human understanding. The prompting to write this "Freditorial" came sometime before dawn of the Saturday between the Good Friday and Easter Sunday of 2026. It was the Scripture of Luke 16:9 that came to mind, copied here using the New King James Version: "...And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they m...
