I recently received a hard copy of a book, “Right Wing Revolution”. The author - Charlie Kirk - gives a good definition of the term. Here’s an excerpt from the first page of the second chapter that is titled: What is Woke? “... wokeness is a mental illness that believes itself to be the cure …” Kirk elaborates on that in great detail but I have my own definition. It based on Holy Scripture, from the book of Isaiah chapter 5, verse 20: “... Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who exchange darkness for light, and light for darkness; who exchange bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! ...” In my opinion, that exposes the core of “Woke ideology”. I do agree with Elon Musk who described the condition as a “mind virus”. Further elaboration of my part may be unnecessary and redundant so... I will close my comment on that particular topic with a repeat of a statement; One that I’ve made many times before: There is no better source of wisdom than the words of Scripture inspired by ...

I awoke this morning thinking of some facets of Creation that probably receive little consideration in light of observations of our physical universe. Here are a few of those observations: 1. Everything G-d has created was perfect but still of less value and perfection than Himself. 2. Everything in existence was created separate from Himself. 3. Since He is eternal and of infinitely perfect wisdom, He cannot recreate Himself. 4. It is necessarily essential that there is only one G-d. 5. "In The Beginning" existence came into being with two entities: Time and Matter/Energy 6. "Space" is an undefined entity. The term is merely a place-holder to placate the human mind. 7. G-d is a Spirit and He exists as both Father and Son. The term "Trinity" may be helpful. 8. The basic elements of Creation as seen in the Atom are illustrative of the Creator. 9. The most basic element ...

I was recently challenged on a phrase that I have used from time to time in the past and I would like to take this opportunity to expand a bit on that choice of words; Here is the phrase that I used (and I had never heard this before so I didn't copy it from anyone - it's something that I made up myself): Excessive Sobriety It's a term that could be considered roughly equivalent or have connotations reflective of words such as "excessive introspection" or "painfully analytical" or "acutely melancholic" or "negatively inclined" or "overly critical" or "manically depressive". Golly indeed! I do hope the reader gets the picture that I'm trying to portray. Yes, there is no "cure" for the condition but there is treatment that is both efficacious and effective. The treatment: alcohol (in moderation!) In the context of my own personal experience with alcohol, after about 55 years from the first time I ha...

Conservative vs Liberal Psalm 2, especially verse 3... "...Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us..." Proverbs 23:10 - "...Remove not the old landmark..." Romans 13 (the believer and civil law) and Acts 7 (description of those who opposed Moses) speak on the topic of resisting legitimate authority. The Scriptures have much to say about rebellion and it is in that context that I feel the need to speak on this topic. Definition of terms: (as derived from multiple online dictionaries) conservative - "...the holding of traditional values..." liberal - "...not bound by traditional forms..." So... What do we see in this modern day "political divide" not only here in the United States but globally? Trudy and I have been, for the second time, watching the series "The Crown" and in those episodes one can really see many poignant examples of opposing ideology between the two viewpoints. Of course it...

It's been 3 years since I added to my blog and I feel it's time for another contribution. As always, the subject matter is spiritual in nature. I suppose that is because, in my mind, there really is nothing more important in life than knowing why I am on this earth and having the BIG question answered in a way that is adequately addressed, intellectually. Recently, as I often do, I contributed to a commentary on Facebook. Although Facebook is just a social network (yes, with all its warts & blemishes) it is also frequently used as a public forum and I believe that that's not a bad thing. In fact, I believe that Facebook is just one of many fulfillments of the Old Testament prophecy that "...knowledge shall increase..." (Daniel 12:4). Three years ago, against all odds, America elected a new president who is a talented businessman, Donald Trump. He was never a politician and it's clear that he is what this country has needed for a long time, someo...

Time for a brief blog ... In John 14:12 our Lord said we could do the works that He does, and even greater works when He goes to "The Father". So ... Can we expect to be able to do the same things that the apostles did? I would say yes but I wouldn't expect those kinds of miracles to be common place. However, there are places around the world where major miracles ARE happening, even as I write these words. Thanks to the "modern miracle" of the internet we can see these things happening right now. I recently viewed (via Skype) miracles of healing in Pakistan and places where people are discovering for the first time the historical and current reality of the power of the living Christ. So ... Have I done anything comparable to what any of the apostles did? Yes, I have, and so have many others here in the "western world". For example, many have suffered persecution for speaking the truth although it's nothing like, say the apostle Paul ...

Well, it's been over seven years since I've written a post so I'm long overdue... I've been thinking a lot lately of something that I've seen happening in our society that really is disturbing and that is this: Everyone has problems and issues in life and that fact reminds me of the words of Scripture as recorded in the book of Job: "...as sparks fly upward man is born unto trouble..." Yes, "troubles" are everywhere but what happens so often is a person's tendency to blame their problems on some external forces rather than taking personal responsibility for any consequences of their attitude and actions or inactions. Primarily however the blame is often placed on the person's parents and their upbringing. Christians often fall into this same trap also as is anyone who is aware of the fact that much of our lives are shaped by those first few years of life. In the Biblical passage which contains the 10 commandments (Exodus 20) we...
