It's been 3 years since I added to my blog and I feel it's time for another contribution.

As always, the subject matter is spiritual in nature.  I suppose that is because, in my mind, there really is nothing more important in life than knowing why I am on this earth and having the BIG question answered in a way that is adequately addressed, intellectually.

Recently, as I often do, I contributed to a commentary on Facebook.  Although Facebook is just a social network (yes, with all its warts & blemishes) it is also frequently used as a public forum and I believe that that's not a bad thing.  In fact, I believe that Facebook is just one of many fulfillments of the Old Testament prophecy that "...knowledge shall increase..." (Daniel 12:4).

Three years ago, against all odds, America elected a new president who is a talented businessman, Donald Trump.  He was never a politician and it's clear that he is what this country has needed for a long time, someone who isn't just another self-serving career politician but someone who really understands American exceptionalism and its history of formation from a Judeo-Christian worldview and is making powerful efforts at getting America back to its roots instead of just following the liberal crowd.

One of our present day "prophets" is Dennis Prager, a Jewish man, who started a "virtual university" called "PragerU".  Politically, Dennis is a solid conservative and is well gifted with the ability to expertly articulate conservative views in the political realm primarily.

Recently, I contributed to a commentary on one of Dennis' Facebook posts about a controversy involving the Salvation Army, one of the best if not the greatest, charitable organizations in the United States and Canada.

Here is a copy of one of my posts in a commentary, or 'forum' which grew from Dennis' post on the subject matter:

Dennis, I feel compelled to make one more statement in regards to your statement about not being a Christian - and it is obvious that that is because you are a member of that beautiful group of people (the Jews) that the Scriptures rightly refer to as "God's chosen".

I was born a 'Gentile' (in Canada) but 46 years ago I decided to become a Christian - the best decision I have ever made in my 67 years of life.  In my studies since that time I have come to understand that, in a sense, you and I (as with Jews & Christians) are of the same body of believers in the God of creation.

I get this primarily from the writings of what is commonly known as "The New Testament" - in particular, the writings of the apostle Paul in the book of Romans, specifically chapters 9-11 and elsewhere to a lesser degree in his other  writings.  That man, under divine inspiration, wrote more of the New Testament than any other man and he was clear in his contention that Jesus Christ really is the Jewish Messiah and the Savior of all mankind.

I want you to know that I love what you are doing and saying these days in regards to the present political situation in this great country.  (I became a US citizen earlier this year.)

My father fought with the Allied forces against the Nazi regime for 4 years during WW2 and when I think of the horrors of those days, and the holocaust in particular, with such a clear display of evil and hatred against your people, the 'children of Abraham', my faith is only strengthened as I realize that our God has promised to eventually make everything right and, as our Scriptures say, He cannot lie.

Dennis, I just want to say "Thank You!" for speaking the truth so clearly and forcefully and I continue to pray that your efforts will succeed in powerfully contributing to "the restoration of all things" which WILL eventually occur.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that any readers of my blog will find the above helpful or useful or, at the very least, interesting.  Yes, I admit that I just want people to know what I believe to satisfy that inner urge that I have, being that I really am an "evangelical".  In today's world it's not necessarily a good thing to be known by that label (and, like most people, I don't like having a 'label') but since I am 'afflicted' with what some would call 'evangelistic fervor', I'll probably have to accept that moniker.

I'm tempted to just assume that it's simply my own ego speaking, and that may or may not be true, but it is also an expression of my compulsion to be obedient to the command of Scripture as found in the last few verses of Matthew 28 as well as the admonition given to Christian believers to "...always be ready to give an answer for that hope that lies within you..." - 1 Peter 3:15.
